Corruption has been touted as the reason for Nigeria to still be called a third world country afterall Malaysia and Nigeria were both in the same categories some four decades ago. Malaysia has leaped from being a third world country to a developed one. But Nigeria seems to have retrogressed. Corruption is one of the reasons given for Nigeria’s rot. It cuts across all facets of the country’s public and private sector. Virtually all the institutions have been compromised and many civil servants are said to be corrupt and also aid political office holders in the heist of public treasury.

There has been accusation by members of the opposition that the fight is one-sided and that their anti-corruption bodies had been used to witch-hunt their members, with these latest developments, this argument no longer hold water as these three former governors were serving senators of the All Progressive Congress (APC). With this latest judgement even Yahoo boy won’t feel unjustly prosecuted. Naira Marley once tweeted that it seems he was the problem of the country insinuating that he was being unjustly prosecuted by the EFCC. So far, 2019 is the year that the EFCC has secured the most convictions signalling appreciable progress full-stop funds are being recovered common perception of corruption is been altered. For sanity to be fully restored in our public psyche the tempo needs to be sustained. Fraudulent rich individuals should be named and shamed while hard work and integrity be embraced.
Nigeria will succeed!
Good piece. Unfortunately, corruption in Nigeria has become systemic to the extent that even tge speeches of the political leaders are corrupt with lies and deception. When the primary intention of seeming position in government is to advance personal accummulation of wealth through the publuc treasuries, every action is a pretension. Thus, there is no action of government, no matter how benevolence it may look, that is not founded on corruption. Selective treatment of alkeged culprits and protection of known corrupt people for political reason will make ut impossinle for Nigeria to fight corruption because you cant fight the devil with its agents.
