NIGERIA! THE QUAGMIRE OF LEADERSHIP!

Leadership is all about responsibility which only the prepared should be given such opportunity. According to Myles Munroe “Leadership is the capacity to influence others through inspiration motivated by passion, generated by vision, produced by a conviction, ignited by a purpose.” I have read about leaders in books and have seen leaders on television but i am yet to feel the impact of good leadership in the capacity of the Nigerian president.
I am an ardent supporter of President Barak Obama and this is based on the fact that his level of influence on the present crop of youth leaders emerging worldwide is quite encouraging.
I am really sad and disappointed in the president of Nigeria based on his leadership style. In 2010, after i submitted my final year project, I joined the Save Nigeria Group in a protest held in Abuja which sought to ensure the constitution was  followed to make sure that there was stability in the polity. The beneficiary of my protest that fateful day is the President Jonathan who was made the acting president after the senate under the leadership of Senator David Mark came up with the doctrine of necessity. lest we forget, the covenor of the Save Nigeria Group is Pastor Tunde Bakare , who a lot of Jonathan apologists have derided because of his stance against so many corrupt practices witnessed under the current administration.
In 2012, I was among those who mobilized youths to protest in my locality against the removal of oil subsidy before palliative measures are put in place. I traveled from Ife to Abuja to embark on a protest for the protest of 2010 which favoured President Jonathan, neither was I paid for the oil subsidy protest of 2012 which was against a policy made by this same leader. It is rather unfortunate that this same man will say I was paid to protest against a policy made by him.
The latest media chat held by the president has been riddled with so many flaws which are not expected from the leader of the World most populous black Nation.
On Corruption
The president said corruption has been blown out of proportion in Nigeria, while in Namibia. The president even said what some people call corruption was like petty stealing. We need to understand that corruption is like HIV which simply breaks down the immune system thereby various forms of illnesses spring up. The president should not make people feel as if corruption can be wished away without being aggressive against it. The last time EFCC has been influential in Nigeria in the fight against corruption was in the era of Nuhu Ribadu who was very vicious and ready to step on toes. Former Bayelsa state governor, Mr  Alameseigha was one we would not forget in a hurry, he was arrested in the United Kingdom for money laundering charges, and he escaped from the country dressed as a woman! Mr president then decided to grant to this wanted man pardon. Let me ask the president this question, what precedent is he laying?
The last set of ministerial nominees screened by the Senate, were said to have questions to answer as regards their tax payments and they were still cleared and assigned. That is the reason Mr President sees the Senate as its ally as against the House of Representatives who grills the heads of different public parastatals. The president sees the actions of the House as "Legislative Tyranny". This is unfortunate because the President has forgotten what President Obama went through as regards the passage of his famous 'Obama Care" or the 2013 budget, which eventually led to the shutdown of the American economy. The president should be reminded of separation of powers which is a core of Democracy and  Federalism. I need to remind the president that democracy is what is termed "tyranny of majority" as espoused by Alexis de Tocquiville, a French philosopher who studied the American democracy.
The President refused to act swift immediately the CBN governor made public the news of $20bn of  NNPC. He finally decided to order a forensic audit after about 2 months of the allegations, saying perhaps the amount might have changed if the CBN Governor had remained! What this says of him is that as a leader, he does not take any criticism from  perceived enemies! The truth is, by now the NNPC officials would have doctored the books because of the luxury of time it had enjoyed since the news broke and when the president finally decided to act.
A couple of weeks ago, there was fuel scarcity in some major parts of the country, which is a result of negligence on the part of a government official who ought to have signed some documents which would have paved way for the importation of fuel by marketers. This issue has been swept under the carpet since the queue has disappeared and NO ONE was held responsible for the hardship this caused the people. The NIS organized a recruitment exercise which led to the death of number of job seekers and till now there has been no single prosecution and NO ONE  has been held responsible and persecuted!
On Terrorism
The president should understand that terrorism is not like the regular security breach which is handled with kids glove as has been witnessed is being done by this administration. The Chibok abductions has been one which should be game-changer in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. When the news initially broke, the government acted as if it did not believe that the abductions was true, even the PDP women leader in person of Kema Chikwe publicly doubted the veracity of this news. It took pressure from the foreign media, for the government to sit up. The military even came out with news that it had recovered the girls when this was a blatant lie!
I have a word for the president which is, he should stop believing that there has to be a bribe of some sort to the members of the public before people protest against his policies. I partook in two different protest that directly or indirectly concerned him, one benefited him, while the other did not, and i was not bribed or paid in cash or kind to partake in any of the protests marches I embarked on. He should realise that he could achieve more if he decides to look at the issues and criticisms and make up his mind to succeed and stop believing that he is witch-hunted all the time. Your gentle nature is a good attribute of yours and I am proud of it, but I need to see the charisma in my president, you can be one of the greatest leaders in history if a lot of correction is made by you Sir. I want to respect you the way I respect President Obama!
God Bless Nigeria!
